Jovaki Agro food India Pvt. Ltd. is an Udaipur based food processing company founded in 2017. We aim to develop a value chain of underutilized forest fruits like Custard apple, Jamun, Amla etc. We take pride in the fact that we have been able to contribute to the empowerment of the tribal women in the region by providing them a stable means of livelihood round the year and increase their family income. We procure our raw material from the tribal women in the region who harvest the forest produce. We are able to provide them a higher price for their fruits than when they sell it in the local markets. Currently, we deal with around 450 tribal women, who are engaged in the collection of forest produce during the harvest season, spread over 12 villages where they have organized themselves into self-help groups of about 35. Around 150 tribal women are engaged in the manual processing of the products.

  • Mission

Our mission is to improve the lives of tribal women by providing them a stable means of livelihood and increased household income.

  • Our Story

Custard apple grows in about 20,000 hectares of the forests in Rajasthan. Harvesting this wildly grown fruit and selling it in the nearby villages and markets was the main source of livelihood for the tribal women in our district. Ripe fruit when harvested has a shelf life of 1 day and all the unsold fruits will have to discarded at the end of the day. The tribal women had to walk for long distances to take it to the nearby villages and they often had to sell the fruits at a very low price as the buyers had great bargaining power due to the fact that the fruits will either have to be sold before evening or discarded as waste. Mr. Rajesh Ozha arrived at an entrepreneurial solution for this problem by setting up a processing plant which added value to the produce by processing it and increasing the shelf life. The fruits are not available throughout the year and grows only during a horizon of about 2 months every year. Thus, processing the fruits also makes them available throughout the year.

  • Our Products

Our main products are dried and frozen pulp of custard apple and Jamun. We also sell processed Amla, Karmada, False, Shahtut, forest Kakdi, Jungaljalebi, and vegetables like green chana, Kikoda, Gaurfali, Karela, Ker, Sangari, Kumthi, Panchkutha, Gunda which are all collected from the forest. Our product portfolio also includes dried rose which are used for making sweets. We source custard apple and Jamun from Udaipur district, roses from Chittorgarh and Kota and other fruits and vegetables from Pali and Jodhpur districts.

We are also expanding our line of products to organic pineapple, banana and cardamom by associating with communities in Arunachal Pradesh.

  • Our Customers

The frozen and dried pulp is sold to various Ice cream and sweets manufacturers (for making Faluda, Basundi, Rabdi etc.), catering industries and exporters. We sell our products to sweets manufacturers in the neighboring states and to organic stores in Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Maharashtra.

  • Our Process

Our processing plant follows best-in-industry safety and hygiene standards. We follow fssai (Food Safety and Standards Authority of India) food safety standards. We use the standardized rejuvenation technology to increase the shelf life of frozen fruit pulp up to a year. We have established fruit collection centers in the forest area with the help from the self-help group of the tribal women we helped form. Once the raw fruit reaches the processing unit, pulp is extracted manually by the trained women following the ISO specified hygiene standards which does not allow the products to be touched by bare hands. The pulp is packed and stored at -35 degree in blast freezer and the hard pulp is shifted to the cold storage before it is sold to the customers. By-products from the process such as seeds and peels are used for extracting oil and for composting manure.
